Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry dominate YouTube's most-viewed music videos of 2013

While the video in the top spot may be a little surprising, the rest of YouTube's most-viewed videos are pretty predictable -- and it's not at all surprising that record-breaking artist Miley Cyrus is on the list twice.

The controversy surrounding Robin Thicke's not-suitable-for-work video for "Blurred Lines" helped drive it to the top of the list, while Katy Perry's intense PR and marketing drove views to the much-anticipated video for "Roar."

It deserves to be noted that YouTube separates viral videos from music videos; "What Does the Fox Say" and BadLipReading landed on separate lists.

Here are the top 10 most-viewed music videos on YouTube in 2013:

  1. PSY - "Gentleman"

  2. Miley Cyrus - "Wrecking Ball"

  3. Miley Cyrus - "We Can't Stop"

  4. Katy Perry - "Roar"

  5. P!nk ft. Nate Ruess - "Just Give Me a Reason"

  6. Robin Thicke ft. T.I. and Pharrell - "Blurred Lines"

  7. Rihanna ft. Mikky Ekko - "Stay"

  8. Naughty Boy fr. Sam Smith - "La La La"

  9. Selena Gomez - "Come & Get It"

  10. Avicii - "Wake Me Up"

Meanwhile, across the pond in the UK, Naughty Boy takes the first spot, and Thicke outpaced Cyrus, bumping her down to numbers four and five.
