John Cena proposed to girlfriend Nikki Bella during Wrestlemania 33 on Sunday night.
The wrestler and actor popped the question during the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) network's pay-per-view event, after he and Nikki beat married wrestling couple The Miz and Maryse in the ring.
Following their victory, Cena began an emotional speech in front of the thousands of fans in the audience, in which he recalled a conversation he and his girlfriend had right before she had surgery following a neck break.
"You were kinda glassy, in and out. At the last moment, I said, 'Can you hear me?' You said, 'Yes.' I said, 'I only have one question.' You said, 'What is it?'
"(I said) 'Do you know one day I'm going to marry you?' And you said, 'Yes'... I just need you to say yes one more time."
Getting down on one knee, Cena, 39, produced a ring box as he asked his stunned girlfriend: "I've been waiting so long to ask you this. Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace, will you marry me?"
In answer to his question, Bella gave her beau a massive kiss.
The couple have been dating since 2012, shortly after Cena divorced first wife Elizabeth Huberdeau. His hesitation to walk down the aisle again has been well documented after the failed marriage and has also been a plot point in Nikki and twin sister Brie Bella's reality show Total Divas.
After the proposal, Brie took to the twins' official Twitter account to share her congratulations, writing: "Happy tears!!!! They always felt married to me but to see it...wow!!! Welcome to the family @JohnCena."
