If you're a fan of 80's songs and feel good story lines, Rock of Ages just might be music to your ears!

"Rock of Ages is a really fun 80's jukebox musical," said Diana Huey who stars as Sherrie.

This rockin' romp that takes the audience on a journey through some of the biggest hits of that decade.

Galen Disston is Drew. "In the story there's a legendary music venue called The Bourbon. And it's at risk you know of being redeveloped."

Huey added, "There's our story about a small town girl and a city boy trying to make their dreams come true."

Drew wants to be a rock star. Sherrie wants to be an actress. Their paths intersect at 'The Bourbon' where Sherrie works as waitress.

"Sherrie is a very sweet, naïve kind of," explained Huey. " But she's a strong girl. She's from Kansas. She leaves her parents and is like I'm gonna make my dreams come true. She runs off to LA to fight for what she wants."

"Drew wants to be around The Bourbon and it's music ya know Sunset Strip of the 80's," said Disston. "By association, he'll take what he can get. He'll sweep floors. He'll pick up bags of vomit and garbage just for that chance to get onstage and have his moment to be a rock star."

Speaking of rock stars... there is some true rock and roll royalty in the show!

Disston explained. "The really cool thing for us with specific production is we get to do 'We Built this City' by Jefferson Starship which is song by Mickey Thomas who is in our show playing Dennis, making his theatrical debut.

By the way, Galen Disston himself is also a musican-- he's the lead singer of the locally based band Pickwick.

"We've been around for awhile. Played a lot of shows. Done a lot of touring. And that's how they were familiar with me and it's cool to get to use the same singing voice I use in Pickwick in different ways with these songs."

Diana Huey is also from the area. She's best known for her year long run as Ariel in the national tour of The Little Mermaid.

"I grew up in Mukilteo north of Seattle and I moved to New York about five years ago. So every time I've gotten to come home to do a show at the {5th Avenue Theatre} is seriously like the best job ever.

The actors say this production is special.

"One thing that's unique about Rock of Ages is the band stand platform on stage where the guitarist, the base player and the drummer are with us and we're interacting with them throughout the show," said Disston.

Folks also have the opportunity to buy tickets for tables placing them right up against the stage with the actors and the action.

Rock of Ages is raucous... and really entertaining.

"Seattle audiences are so amazing and it's so nice to come home," said Huey with a grin.
